Roosters or Cockerels are male chickens that will not produce eggs. Adding roosters or cockerels to your flock can help protect the hens from predators, add order and harmony to the flock, and create happier hens. They crow, help find foraged food for the hens, provide fertilization to the eggs, and can also be a source of meat. Roosters or cockerels can sometimes become aggressively protective of the flock or add stress to the flock by over-mating, and a recommended rooster-to-hen ratio is from 1:10 to 1:12. It’s important to check your local ordinances to be sure you can keep a rooster legally.
Roosters or cockerels purchased will be 3 months old or older. We do not offer cockerels as baby chicks or coop ready chickens.
