Our adult chickens are almost ready to start laying eggs! Depending on the breed and time of year, these adult chickens should begin laying eggs in just a few short months. Breeds and quantities are subject to availability. Most chickens are sexed females with a 95% success rate except crested and bantam breeds. Adult chickens are:

18 weeks and older
Fully-feathered and ready to go outside into a coop
Vaccinated for Marek’s Disease using the most complete 4-strain vaccine, and administered in-ovo or within 24 hours of hatching by professionals
Sexed and guaranteed females with a 95% success rate, except crested and bantam breeds
Fully physically mature or mature within one month
0-3 months to begin laying eggs, depending on the breed and the time of year

Minimum Order

There is a minimum order of 2 chickens. For the health and safety of the chickens, chickens should be kept in a flock with other chickens, not alone, and should be integrated as pairs or larger groups in most cases. Dare 2 Dream Farms reserves the right to cancel an order if it does not meet the minimum. For more information, please contact our customer service at 805-735-3233.

Delivery

Please visit our deliveries page for complete information on delivery and pick-up options, pricing, and service areas.

For Local Delivery, you will receive a text or email the day before delivery with an estimated time of arrival (ETA) and a link for live updates so you can track your delivery. For pick-up at locations other than Dare 2 Dream Farms, you will also receive a text or email to confirm your order and pick-up time. For pick-up at Dare 2 Dream Farms, please arrive at the appointment time selected during checkout. Our team will meet you at the Farm Stand Office to fulfill your order.

For the best chance of next-day delivery, please place your order by noon one business day before the scheduled delivery in your area. Delivery is ultimately subject to availability and therefore we cannot guarantee next-day delivery.

Cancellation Policy

To cancel your delivery for backyard chickens and receive a full refund, cancellations must be made by noon, one business day before your scheduled delivery. For the health and safety of the chickens, as a courtesy to our driver, cancellations made after this deadline are subject to a $35 Cancellation Fee.

Care Guidance

Chickens should have access to a chicken coop for sleeping and laying eggs. Close them up in their coop every night at dusk to protect them from common chicken predators, and open the coop again after dawn. The coop should have roosts for them to perch on for sleeping, and nesting boxes for laying eggs (approximately one box for every four chickens).
